2015 AFCON: Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan attributes Senegal defeat to lack of experience
20.01.2015 LISTEN

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has attributed the Black Stars' 2-1 defeat against Senegal in the Group C opener to lack of experience.

Gyan was forced to sit out of the game due to illness – Malaria, but Olympique Marseille winger Andre Ayew was made to stand in his shoes.

Ghana scored first, in the 14th minute through an Andre Ayew penalty but Mame Biram Diouf and Moussa Sow scored in the second-half to snatch victory.

And, Gyan feels the lack of experience cost the team the game.

“I am disappointed. It got to a time we should have used our experience because they were putting pressure on us and we needed a draw because honestly they took control of the game in the last 30 minutes and we should have held on. It's part of football but still very disappointing,” he told All Sports.

The Al Ain striker also talked about his health and when he is likely to return to training.

“I am feeling much better and I am talking to the medical team .Hopefully we will see improvements.”
