A total of 16 teams will compete in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations this week-end. Ghana and South Africa are due for a showdown as they are both in the same group for the African cup of nations. The 2015 event will be held in Equatorial Guinea.
The kick-off begins on the 17th January – 8th February and is highly anticipated due to the level of groups that have qualified such as Tunisia and the tipped favourites Algeria.
The match between South Africa's team Bafana, Bafana and the Black Stars is a highly anticipated match as it was in 2000 (which was co-hosted by Nigeria and Ghana) that the S.A team kicked Ghana out of the tournament in the quarter finals stage. Siyabonga Nomvete was the one that scored the only goal which eliminated the co-hosts Ghana at the time.
The 2015 tournament which is actually the 30th one promises to be exciting as South Africa has marshaled all their arsenals top players although top player Patrick Phungwayo is injured and therefore will no longer be playing for South Africa's 2015 Africa Cup of Nations squad this Sunday.
South Africa hosted the previous Africa Cup of Nations in 2013 they are of course are no stranger to the hosting of Football tournaments as they hosted the 2010 FIFA World Cup which placed South Africa on the world stage. Ghana also hosted the CAN in 2008 and it was also a great platform that demonstrated Ghana's ability to host such events.
