Ivorian midfield architect Yaya Toure has been crowned a record four time African Best Player on Thursday in a colourful ceremony at the Convention Centre of Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.

The 31-year-old midfielder joins Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o as the two players to win the enviable award for four times, but Yaya Toure is credited as the only African to win it on a trot starting from 2011- 2014.

He came ahead of Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Super Eagles' shot stopper Vincent Enyeama.

However, Super Falcon's Asisat Oshoala was crowned African Women Player of the Year ahead of Desire Oparanozie and Cameroonian goalie Annette Ngo Ndom for her stellar performance at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup where she won both the Golden Ball and the Golden Boot Award.
