Rubbing Liverpool to pay Arsenal

The most topical issue over the 2014 summer transfer window was the transfer of Uruguayan goal monger Luis Suarez from Liverpool to Barcelona and Arsene Wenger breaking the bank on the trot to snap Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez through the bare fingers of Brendan Rodgers to the Emirate.

But who on earth would have thought that the Uruguayan hitman could hit the net just once after nine La Liga appearances for Barcelona?

To make matters worse for the former Liverpool goal poacher he failed to convert from a one-on-one situation in Barcelona's 0-1 lose to Real sociedad over the weekend.

In his days in the Premiership, Luis Suarez was such a monster in front of goal that even the best goalie dared not to ever come face-to-face with and most pundits were wondering how he was going to bolster the Barcelona attack which already had Neymar Jnr. and the Argentine footballing 'god,' Lionel Messi but he has not been any better than an amateur in the La Masia.

On the flip side, the 'Chilled Pepper,' Alexis Sanchez has been an instant hit in the English Premiership which is arguably considered as the most toughest in the world.

Alexis Sanchez has bagged 10 goals with 6 assists in 19 Premier League appearances so far and lying fourth on the goal king pedestal behind Chelsea's Diego Costa (14), Sergio Aguero (14) and Charlie Austin (12).

Let me quickly suffix to reiterate here that Luis Suarez scored 7 and assisted four times in his first 19 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, but Sanchez's record so far is very naked to win him the Premiership player of the year considering how quickly he has adopted into the difficult English league with ease.

However, there are certain similar characteristics between the two players, they both play the game as if they have taken a cocktail of amphibian stimulant. That is to say they play without looking tired regardless of how tough a game may look.

Again, both of them seemingly do everything on the pitch. That is, they can hit a free kick, corner kick, dribble, pass, shoot, create chances and can also defend whenever their team is under threat from the enemies angle. So in effect one can conclude that the two South American's produce identical results on the pitch.

Haven't concisely compared the two players, this piece will still lack substance without mentioning how Liverpool did not only refuse to sell Suarez to Arsenal before the 2013/14 season after the player he had declared his love to feature for the gunners, but made a mockery of Arsene Wenger for bidding a forty-million-pound plus one for the goal prodigy.

John Henry's "I don't know what they smoke at the Emirate" summed up how the Reds were never ready to do business with the North London club.

Yes! Liverpool managed to cash the account on Suarez's move to Barcelona with a whopping sum of seventy-five million pounds but the club has since struggled to find a suitable replacement for their one time dreaded goal spinner.

Whereas Liverpool cashed in on Suarez, Arsene Wenger on the other hand managed to cash down on the Alexis Sanchez's head with thirty-five million pounds in the purse.

At last, one could conclude that Barcelona took away Liverpool's most lethal weapon (Luis Suarez) to the Camp Nou and furnished Arsenal with an outstanding performer (Alexis Sanchez).
