Cameroon assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko has revealed the reasons behind their decision to drop West Ham United star Alex Song from their 2015 AFCON squad.
Volker Finke announced Cameroon's squad that will travel to Equatorial Guinea to compete for the African Cup of Nations(Afcon 2015).
The German gaffer's list includes only 8 players from those who participated in the last World Cup in Brazil including Alex Song.
Tanko explained why the former Barcelona star was omitted from the squad for the tournament: “Song was suspended by the [Cameroon] FA so there was no need to go with him to the African Cup.”
“The FA has not lifted the suspension on him yet so he is not part of our plans for the tournament.”
