Asamoah Gyan was named the 2014 Best Ghanaian Foreign-Based Player in the maiden edition of the Happy FM Ghana Sports Fans awards.

The Al Ain ace beat competition from his international colleagues; Andre Ayew, Kwadwo Asamoah and Harrison Afful to win the award which is solely voted for by the fans.

The Black Stars captain was presented with the award by former Ghana striker Ibrahim Tank who currently serves as the assistant coach of Cameroon.

Gyan has had a fruitful 2014 having emerged as the highest scoring African in the history of the World Cup finals with his two goals this term in Brazil.

The 29-year-old also helped his UAE club, Al Ain to the semi finals of the Asian Champions League where he emerged as the top scorer of the continental championship with 12 goals.

He was subsequently awarded as the 2014 Best Foreign Player in Asia following his heroics in the AFC Champions League.

The former Sunderland hitman also played a leading role to help Ghana seal qualification to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
