26.12.2014 LISTEN

Ghana has no representative in the 2014 Glo-CAF Awards after the final list of contenders were finalized by the continent's football governing body.

This comes after the elimination of Black Stars captain and dependable striker Asamoah Gyan from the African Footballer of the Year shortlist.

The Al Ain striker was named in the five man shortlist earlier this month sparking hopes that he will strongly contest for the title.

However when the final three-man shortlist was made on Thursday, the Ghana star was excluded from the list leaving Ghana with no representative.

Gabonese midfielder Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and Ivorian midfieder Yaya Toure made the final top three for the 2014 African Player of the Year.

The trio made the cut following votes from Head Coaches or Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF.

Ghana's Asamoah Gyan and Ahmed Musa of Nigeria failed to make the final list.

For the African Player of the Year (Based in Africa), Algerian duo, Akram Djahnit and El Hedi Belamieri are in contention with DR Congo forward Firmin Mubele Ndombe.

Ahly have been shortlisted among the three-team nominated for the 2014 African Club of the Year title, contending with AS Vita Club of DR Congo and ES Setif of Algeria.

The 2014 Glo-CAF Awards will be announced 8 January at a ceremony in Nigeria's Lagos to honour Africa's best players and officials for their achievements during 2014.
