Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan would have to wait for another year to win the African footballer of the year award after the Al Ain goal machine was omitted from the final 3-man shortlist for the top award.

Gabon striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and Ivorian midfieder Yaya Toure have made the final top three for the 2014 African Player of the Year.
