Atalanta striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom has taken his snub for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations on the chin by saying he 'feels normal and not frustrated or disappointed'.

The exclusion of one of Ghana's consistent players abroad from Avram Grant's provisional 31-man squad in has been one of the key talking points.

Boakye scored four goals in all competitions for Atalanta for the first half of the season and played 13 Serie A matches.

But new coach Grant was not convinced and decided to call-up Kwesi Appiah who plays for Cambridge United in the fourth-tier of English football.

The 21-year old told Africanfootball.com: “It's a huge honour to play for the Black Stars and I am always delighted when the opportunity comes. I didn't make it so the best is to work hard for the future.”

He added: “I have complete confidence in the decision made by the coach so I accept that my exclusion has been made in the best interest of the team. When I merit again I will be recalled into the team ”

“If at anytime my services are needed I would jump at the opportunity to serve Ghana football.”

Boakye, owned by Juventus, has been missing from the Black Stars since June 2013.

He was at the last edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa but injury prevented him from debuting as Ghana went on to finish fourth.
