Falsehood: Opoku Nti rubbishes Kotoko Champions League withdrawal reports
19.12.2014 LISTEN

Asante Kotoko management led by Samuel Opoku Nti has dismissed media reports suggesting that the Kumasi based club is planning on pulling out of next year's CAF champions league.

The Porcupine Warriors will be representing the country in the CAF elite competition after winning last season's FCP premier league for the third consecutive time.

Reports emanated from the media indicates that  Asante Kotoko are in financial crisis due to the delay start of the local league and the club is not getting enough in-flows in terms of cash hence the intent to pull out of the CAF competition.

But the club's management led by Opoku Nti dismissed those reports and reiterated that the club is ready to compete in the Champions league.

'If we decide not to participate in the African Clubs Champions League, our first point of call will be the Ghana Football Association (GFA),' Opoku Nti told Graphic Sports.

'Professionally, we will officially write to inform the FA about our decision but not resort to the social media as is being speculated around the country.

'We don't deal with any social media, but deal directly with the GFA. So I wonder why some people can concoct such stories and put them in the social media,'' he fumed.

According to him the news is never true, but a form of propaganda meant to deny us financial support from individuals and organisations willing to help us participate in such a prestigious competition.
