Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have rubbished reports that they will participate in the 2015 Africa Champions League insisting the reports are calculated to deny them of financial support.
The Porcupine Warriors will be counting on the financial support of their supporters and other organisations to help them play in the expensive continental competition.
The acting Chief Executive of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Samuel Opoku Nti, has denied reports circulating in the social media that champion club, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, will be pulling out of the 2015 African Clubs Champions League.
He said the rumours that the Porcupine Warriors had decided to pull out of the international competition was an attempt to prevent individuals and organisations from supporting the club financially, to enable them to prepare for the competition.
“If we decide not to participate in the African Clubs Champions League, our first port of call will be the Ghana Football Association(GFA),” the effective leader of the African giants Opoku Nti told Graphic Sports.
“Professionally, we will officially write to inform the FA about our decision but not resort to the social media as is being speculated around the country.
“We don't deal with any social media, but deal directly with the GFA. So I wonder why some people can concoct such stories and put them in the social media.
“The news is never true, but a form of propaganda meant to deny us financial support from individuals and organisations willing to help us participate in such a prestigious competition.”
On how the team was preparing for Africa at a time the league was yet to start, he said Kotoko had outlined a number of friendly matches.
According to the Kotoko Chief Executive, the team will play a friendly match with Sekondi Eleven Wise on Saturday and play Tarkwa United on Sunday.
