Training guide: Taekwondo book to be launched in Tema on Saturday

All roads lead to the Good Shepherd Catholic Church Parish Hall at Tema Community 2 on Saturday Noember 29th, 2014 when history will be made by Prismax Warriors Martial Arts Academy with the launching of the first ever Taekwando book by a Ghanaian author entitled 'Tae Kwon Do Training Guide'.

Written by Maxwell Theodore Alornyo, a Kukkiwon Tae Kwon Do 4th degree Black Belt holder and a a former Ghana Taekwondo heavyweight champion, the book is aimed at unravelling and developing talents in the sport as well as instilling discipline and self-confidence in the Ghanaian youth.

"The book also seeks to introduce martial arts to beginners, make self-defence accessible to readers and to promote the sport both locally and internationally," Mr. Alornyo told Allsports.com.gh exclusively.

"The aim of the project is to help unearth and develop talents in the arts as well as instill confidence and discipline in the youth of this country," added the author, also a graduate teacher currently handling B.D.T. (Visual Arts option) and Taekwondo in 6 Junior High Schools in the Krowor North and South Circuits, Nungua.

According to Mr. Alornyoh who is also the Ghana national junior team coach in charge of training of Greater Accra schools in Taekwondo, a special highlight of the launch ceremony will be a demonstration by students from the schools he trains after which medals will be presented to distinguished winners from previous competitions.

A host of dignitaries are expected to grace the occasion ncluding the Korean Ambassador to Ghana as well as Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) President, Fredrick Otu. Follow @thedonplato
