Uganda FA boss reveals unilateral decision to take striker out from squad ahead of opening 2015 AFCON qualifier against Ghana

Uganda FA boss Moses Magogo has revealed that the decision to drop striker Geofrey Massa for their opening 2015 AFCON qualifier against Ghana was his and not that of the coach.

Magogo's revelation smacks off administrative interference in the work of coach Milutin Sredojevic even though the Serbian trainer is always quick to kick against such thoughts.

Massa, who plays his club football with South Africa club University of Pretoria is said to have been punished for failing to join the team early enough during their camping in Niger ahead of their trip to Ghana.

FUFA President Moses Magogo said: “It was my decision [to leave Massa out of the team].

“I called Massa and told him that it was not the coach's (decision) but mine.

“I also told the coach that this was an administrative issue.”

Uganda managed to secure an impressive point off the Black Stars in their opening qualifier back in September.

The Cranes however eventually failed to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations despite clinching a famous win over Ghana in the return leg in Kampala.

The Black Stars clinched qualification in Group E alongside Guinea.
