The vice chairman of the Black Starlets management committee Winfred Osei is confident the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will reverse its decision to ban the national U-17 team from the 2015 African Championship.

The Ghana Football Association will learn on Wednesday if it was successful in appealing a CAF ban for fielding an over-aged player in qualifying for the championship.

CAF claimed Isaac Twum, who represents the junior side of Hearts of Lions, failed a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

“We had indicated in our earlier appeal that we will use further evidence to support our case for Ghana to be reinstated in the tournament,” said vice chairman of the Black Starlets management committee Winfred Osei

“There is no way we could have influenced the MRI result of the player so for us we are not guilty of anything and I know by close of today we will hear a favourable ruling on the case.”

Ghana won the 13 September first-leg tie 2-1 and went on to record a 6-4 aggregate victory, but Cameroon protested and CAF disqualified Twum. Story by Ghana/Joy Sports/Benedict Owusu
