Terrible experience: Tyson Chandler felt like a scapegoat in New York
26.11.2014 LISTEN

Chandler returned to the Mavericks for the 2014-15 NBA campaign after Knicks president Phil Jackson expressed his desire to "change some of the chemistry" of the New York franchise.

Those comments came in the aftermath of a 37-45 win-loss record season, where Chandler was questioned for his lack of professionalism and leadership.

Almost six months have passed since Chandler left the Knicks, but the 32-year-old still feels as though he was a scapegoat for the team's problems.

"At times, at times, at times," Chandler told ESPNDallas.com.

"But I feel like New York made me a lot stronger, a lot stronger of a person going through trials and tribulations there. But that's life."

Since Chandler swapped New York for Dallas, there have been reports suggesting the 2011 NBA championship winner's leadership caused tension within the Knicks' locker room.

"I think people can take it differently and make it what they want to make it," Chandler said. "It also depends on where your mind is.

"If everybody is locked in and they want to win and they know I'm in it 100 percent and they're in it 100 per cent, nobody's sensitive. But if there's other agendas, it's going to make things sensitive."

Chandler is averaging 10.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks for the Mavericks (10-5) this season.
