Match day four of the Ghana Rugby Club Championship (GRCC) 2014/15 came off on Saturday November 22nd on the Accra Rugby pitch in Legon with three Club Championship.

Legon Titans' wait for a victory over Cosmos Buffaloes continues after a blitz of two tries and a conversion kick by the Buffaloes, snatched what had been a seesaw contest. A try from Labaran in the dying minutes of the first half due to a mistimed pass from the Legon Titans fullback Derrick, gave the Buffaloes an easy try.

The fierce battle continued with a lot of athleticism, skill and tactical brilliance on display by both teams, clearly showing why they are the best two Rugby Teams in this championship.

After the recess, yet another mistimed pass was intercepted by a Buffaloes player running back to score another try to seal their victory, maintaining and extending their unbeaten run this season to four games. The Buffaloes won by 12 points to 0.

Speaking to the coach of Legon Titans, Mr. Julius Amevor, after their first defeat of the season, he was optimistic that all was not lost. "We played a very good game but a lapse in concentration resulted in our defeat. When playing a good side like Cosmos Buffaloes you cannot afford to do that," he said.

He went on to say, "We will go back to the drawing board and correct the mistakes we made today, and the next time we meet them (Cosmos Buffaloes), it will be a different story to tell".

Coach Amuzuloh of Cosmos Buffaloes was full of joy and admiration for how hard his 'boys' fought for their victory. "I was up very early this morning encouraging the boys to give their best on the field and most importantly have fun," he said.

When asked why he was up so early the morning for the game he said that it does not matter how good your team is because when meeting a stiff opposition like Legon Titans you need to bring your full arsenal on board.

The second game of the day featured Tema Anchors RFC and Idas sports RFC. The woes of Tema Anchors continued with their third successive loss of the season. They were beaten by Idas 31 - 0.

Speaking to the media after the game, Mr. Patrick Eduakwa, manager of Tema Anchors looked a bit disappointed having lost yet another game. "It was clear Idas were more prepared for this game than we were, but all in all, I think it was a good game," he said.

Dansoman Hurricanes registered their first win of the season in the final game of the day against Accra Sharks much to the delight of the whole squad. They won convincingly by 48 points to 6.

The captain of the side, idi, stated that they (Dansoman Hurricanes) have had a string of bad luck this season but he is glad his team is back on to winning ways.

"Sometimes these things happen in sports and you need to have a good psychic to be able to push forward and as a captain you need to encourage your teammates all the time, on-and-off the field," he said.

Next week is the final round of games for the first leg of the 2014/15 Ghana Rugby Club Championship Pool A that will see Cosmos Buffaloes RFC take on Accra sharks RFC at 11am, Idas sports RFC take on Legon Titans RFC at 1.00pm and Dansoman Hurricanes RFC take on Tema Anchors RFC at 3pm.

Mr. Herbert Mensah, President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) who is currently on Rugby related assignments in Europe, on receiving reports about the matches, said he is confident that if Ghana Rugby keep their eyes on the ball Rugby will become a sport that will make Ghanaians proud to be Ghanaians on the international arena in the foreseeable future.
