Amazing: Stan Wawrinka shares the love with Roger Federer, savours 'amazing feeling'

The pair reportedly had a spat following their tight semi-final at the ATP World Tour Finals in London earlier in November.

The bust-up, which related to Federer's wife Mirka sledging Wawrinka during the clash, did not deter Severin Luthi's men from delivering the Swiss glory in the team tournament.

Wawrinka ensured his side went into the Saturday doubles at 1-1 with his first-up singles victory over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who later pulled out of the reverse singles with an injury.

The Australian Open champion - who became the first player since Andre Agassi in 1992 to break his major and Cup drought in the same calendar year - said he did not watch the start of Federer's title-clinching victory over Richard Gasquet.

Instead, Wawrinka was warming up with team-mate Michael Lammer in case he was required for a decisive fifth rubber in Lille, but his services were not needed further - as Federer downed Gasquet 6-4 6-2 6-2.

And the world number four did his best to further smooth the waters between himself and his friend Federer.

"It's an amazing feeling, the best. We all know it's great to watch a great player when he's playing good tennis ... yeah Roger, I still love you," said Wawrinka, much to the humour of the news conference.

"I didn't watch the beginning, I was watching from the locker room, it was important to be ready in place for the last match, and I was ready.

"I had a great warm-up with Michi [Lammer], who is really sick.

"But to be serious, it was good, you saw how well Roger was playing and how he just killed Richard today.

"So that was an amazing feeling. I'm really happy for everybody and everything that went on during the time."
