NOV 24, 2014 LISTEN

This month's 5-0 loss to India raised questions about some members of the Sri Lanka squad and, with the World Cup on the horizon, changes have been made to enable Marvan Attapattu to assess his options.

A new bowling attack has been drafted in for the opening three matches of the series versus England, with Rangana Herath, Jeevan Mendis and Dilruwan Perera all coming in.

Nuwan Kulasekara, who only took two wickets in the previous series, has been left out, but Lahiru Gamage and Dhammika Prasad retain their places.

After three years in the wilderness batsman Thilina Kandamby has earned a recall in place of Dinesh Chandimal, while much of the pressure will once again fall on the shoulders of experienced duo Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara.

Angelo Mathews' side may come into the series low on confidence after the thrashing at the hands of India, but they can take heart from having beaten England 3-2 on home soil earlier this year.

The tourists will play seven ODIs in Sri Lanka, with the hosts' squad to be reassessed after the third match in Hambantota on December 3.

Squad in full: Angelo Mathews (captain), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Shaminda Eranga, Lahiru Gamage, Rangana Herath, Mahela Jayawardene, Thilina Kandamby, Ajantha Mendis, Jeevan Mendis, Dilruwan Perera, Kusal Perera, Thisara Perera, Dhammika Prasad, Kumar Sangakkara, Lahiru Thirimanne
