Big man LaMarcus Aldridge starred as the in-form Trail Blazers beat the Boston Celtics 94-88 in the NBA on Sunday.

Aldridge posted a double-double for the Trail Blazers in Boston, finishing with 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Portland were outscored in the first half and trailed 49-44 at the start of the third quarter at TD Garden.

The Trail Blazers improved in the second half as they levelled the score at 72-piece heading into the final term.

And the Trail Blazers took control in the fourth, going on a 17-5 run as they condemned the Celtics to their fifth loss in six games.

Chris Kaman, Damian Lillard, Nicolas Batum, Steve Blake and Wesley Matthews made it into double figures for Western Conference Northwest division leaders the Trail Blazers, who improved to 10-3 for the season.

Jared Sullinger and Jeff Green scored 19 points apiece for the Celtics.

The Grizzlies (12-2) boast the league's best record following their 107-91 win over the Clippers in Memphis.

Spanish centre Marc Gasol dominated the Clippers at the FedExForum after scoring 30 or more points for the third time this season.

Gasol was 13 of 18 from the field as he had a game-high 30 points and 12 rebounds.

The Grizzlies had five other players in double figures, including Courtney Lee (13 points) and Tony Allen (12 points).

Chris Paul was a shining light for the Clippers (7-5), whose winning streak ended at two games, scoring 22 points.

The Miami Heat survived some late drama, defeating the Charlotte Hornets 94-93.

Chris Bosh (20 points, 10 rebounds) gave the Heat a one-point with 31 seconds remaining in Miami before the Hornets missed three shots to win the game.

Kemba Walker (16 points) missed two opportunities during the final stages, while Al Jefferson (22 points, 12 rebounds) saw his effort bounce off the rim on the buzzer as the Hornets dropped their fifth consecutive game.

In other results, Marreese Speights and his 28 points lifted the Golden State Warriors to a 91-86 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Denver Nuggets overcame the Los Angeles Lakers 101-94 in overtime.
