Rosberg, needing a win and for his Mercedes team-mate to finish third or lower to claim the Formula One title, suggested Hamilton had everything to lose and could make a mistake.

But Hamilton, who qualified second to Rosberg, said it mattered little to him as he opted to focus on himself.

"I don't pay much attention to that at all," Hamilton told the F1 website.

"And take today - if I made a mistake today it would be the same amount as him. Nico had to do an extra lap on the actual race tyres, which hopefully will have an effect. That he is in that situation was due to a mistake.

"My tyres are perfect for the race. And overall it's been very few mistakes through the year. I am not worried about these things.

"Nico is sure trying everything possible in his head to come up with some kind of way of dealing with things - that's how he deals with it.

"Me - I just keep to myself and do the talking on the track. Today I did a great job in Q3 - and everything else I will try to make up tomorrow in the race."

Hamilton dismissed suggestions he would have trouble sleeping on Saturday.

"That's definitely not so. I never struggle to sleep! I always sleep well," he said.

"I remember back in 2007 and 2008: I slept like a baby on the night before the all-decisive races."
