Automobile giant Nissan has signed a partnership deal with Confederation of African Football (CAF), organizers of the orange africa Cup of nations (AFCON), to be hosted in equatorial Guinea in January 2015.

According to officials of Nissan Ghana, the partnership with CAF is aimed at bringing innovation that is expected to excite the continent's biggest sporting tournament.

The partnership covers the qualifiers, right up to the finals, starting in January next year in Equatorial Guinea.

Takashi Hata, senior vice president in charge of Nissan Africa, Middle East and India region, admitted that nothing unites and excites Africa like football.

'Innovation that excites is what Nissan stands for. Sharing in the joy of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations 2015 with fans will help us to strengthen our brand in Africa, which we regard as a strategic and maturing market, and to increase the excitement about our innovative products,' Takashi Hata stated at a ceremony to kick off the partnership.

Japan Motors and Nissan Auto Parts – the two dealers of Nissan vehicles in Ghana - were also present at Accra Mall for the event. The partnership was part of Nissan's drive to significantly increase its market presence in Africa.

Nissan has over the years been involved in partnership deals to promote the growth of the global sports which already includes the brand's proud sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League, Rio 2016 Olympics and Paralympic Games and Olympic Team Brazil among others.
