Minnesota recovered from losing four matches in succession by winning as many on the trot, downing the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 after twice coughing up leads.

Marco Scandella assisted Nino Niederreiter on a Wild power-play for the opening goal, but the Flyers struck back via Mark Streit.

Scandella then scored off a Niederreiter assists early in the third period, but Claude Giroux responded on a power-play for 2-2.

But Jason Zucker had the final say, his last-minute goal continuing the Wild's hot streak.

The Maple Leafs ended a three-match losing run, downing the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-2.

The Lightning are now three points off the Eastern Conference Atlantic division leaders the Montreal Canadiens, after the latter downed the St Louis Blues 4-1.

Ottawa struck three times in just over eight minutes, and it was enough to see them hold out the Nashville Predators 3-2.

The Predators sit top of the Western Conference Central division, holding first place due to St Louis' defeat.

The Detroit Red Wings twice came from behind to down the Winnipeg Jets 4-3, while a final-period flurry from the Dallas Stars saw them beat the Arizona Coyotes 3-1.

Alex Ovechkin scored a freak winning goal as the Washington Capitals edged the Colorado Avalanche 3-2, the Chicago Blackhawks were too good for the Calgary Flames 4-3 and the Anaheim Ducks moved clear of the Western Conference's Pacific division with a 4-3 shoot-out win over the Vancouver Canucks.

The Los Angeles Kings edged the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2, and the Florida Panthers won 3-2 over the San Jose Sharks after a shoot-out.
