Daniel Sedin had three assists and Radim Vrbata scored twice as the Canucks recorded a thrilling 5-4 victory over the Oilers.

The Canucks are second in the Pacific division, while the Oilers' fourth straight loss leaves them bottom.

The short-handed Canucks took the lead with just over four minutes remaining in the opening period.

A breakaway led to Jannik Hansen's snap shot goal, with the assist from Shawn Matthias.

Vancouver needed just seconds of a power-play to double their lead early in the second period as Vrbata slapped a shot in.

Steven Pinizzotto scored a much-needed goal for the Oilers before a turnover led to Chris Higgins making it 3-1 to the Canucks.

Teddy Purcell and Boyd Gordon struck next to have the Oilers tied 11 minutes 43 seconds into the second period.

A power-play led to Vrbata restoring the Canucks' lead before the period was over.

Andrew Ference tied the game once more in the third period, but Yannick Weber gave the Canucks victory.

At Madison Square Garden, Rangers goaltender Cam Talbot made 31 saves to shut out the Philadelphia Flyers in a 2-0 win.

Kevin Klein and Rick Nash scored the goals for the Rangers, who are third in the Metropolitan division.
