NOV 1, 2014 LISTEN

Gustav Nyquist's brace and goals to Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Tatar set the tone as the Red Wings scored four goals in the space of 10 minutes at Joe Louis Arena on Friday.

The Kings pulled two goals back in the second and third periods via Alec Martinez and Tyler Toffoli.

But the Red Wings were not to be denied as Datsyuk completed the scoring with less than two minutes remaining to condemn the Kings to a third consecutive defeat.

"That was good, big for our power play," said Nyquist, who scored both power-play goals for Detroit.

"I think it's been getting better and better, and today we converted on the first two opportunities there, so that was good."

Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard made 28 saves.
The Anaheim Ducks were 2-1 winners against the Dallas Stars in overtime as Corey Perry continued his goalscoring form.

Perry broke the deadlock in the second period and set up Nate Thompson for the match-winner 2:30 into overtime.

The Ducks right wing leads the league with 10 goals this season.

In other results, Daniel Winnik celebrated his 500th NHL game in winning fashion as the Toronto Maple Leafs accounted for the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1.

Winnik - a replacement for injured team-mate Joffrey Lupul - scored his 50th goal and dished off two assists in the dominant victory.

The Blue Jackets have now lost four games on the bounce.

Goals from Jiri Hudler, T.J. Brodie and Johnny Gaudreau in the first seven minutes of the third period lifted the Calgary Flames to a 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators.

Calgary goalie Jonas Hiller saved 28 shots.
