Sports News Rafael Nadal: Borna Coric loss 'nothing frustrating'
OCT 25, 2014 LISTEN

Nadal, the world number three, has been battling illness in his past three tournaments, and was diagnosed with appendicitis in Shanghai - where he was a first-up loser to compatriot Feliciano Lopez.

Despite two comfortable wins to reach the last eight of the ATP 500 tournament in Switzerland, Nadal was ousted by Croatian prodigy Coric 6-2 7-6 (7-4).

Nadal said the loss did not surprise him given his below-par health, which saw him withdraw from the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

"Nothing frustrating for me to lose here," Nadal said.

"I [knew] it was going to happen. I was ready for that. I accept [that] and I know I have to be better for the beginning of 2015, and the only way to be better is work and health.

"Without health, you cannot work."
Coric said despite his composure to seal the biggest win of his career in the second set tie-break, in which he won all of his points on serve, he was anxious at the finish.

"Believe me, I'm a very nervous person. I [was] just trying to keep it inside of me," he said.

"I didn't have anything to lose. Because I never played against him, I wasn't sure what I was going to get - is he going to kill me or what? - so I was under pressure."

Coric said he was savouring the win, despite an impending semi-final with Belgium's David Goffin.

"It's unbelievable for me," he said.
"I just want to enjoy the moment. I'm just so surprised and it's an unbelievable feeling."
