Youth and Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga is willing to mediate the impasse which has delayed the start of the Ghana Premier League.

King Faisal, who were relegated last season, are in court to contest rulings by the Disciplinary and Appeals Committees of the Ghana Football Association which dismissed their protest to have points deducted from Aduana Stars.

Faisal alleged Aduana failed to pay a fine of GHC 5,000 imposed on them by the D.C within the 14 stipulated days before playing Berekum Chelsea and Heart of Lions.

The petitioner sought to have Aduana forfeit two matches in accordance with the provisions of General Regulations of the GFA but it was twice thrown out.

The 2014/2015 season was scheduled to start on 21 September but the court case has put the commencement of the new campaign in doubt.

But Ayariga said the government is willing to step in.

“The GFA manage the league so we don't want to involve ourselves in that case. If they come for support we will help them to find solutions to the problems,” Ayariga told Kumasi-based Metro FM.

“We don't want to rush into issues because they're the body [responsible for the management of football] to handle such situations but when they see the need to call on the ministry, we will not hesitate to come in.”
