Asamoah Gyan
Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has allayed fears regarding a knee injury he sustained in Al Ain's 3-1 win over Al Dhafra last Friday.

The former Sunderland striker, who returned from a fruitful international duty, started the game from the bench, but was stretchered off a few minutes after his introduction.

Last Friday's bad news sent waves to especially the Ghanaian football fraternity, but the 'Baby Jet' says there is no cause for alarm.

He attributed the hitch to his insatiable desire to hit the back of the net despite the warning from the team's technical bench not to stretch beyond his limit.

The 29-year-old forward said in an interview 'I feel much better and my injury is not cause for concern. I had the desire in me to hit the target and I am solely responsible for the injury.

'My coach (Zlatko) asked me not to rush on the field but I did everything to score a goal.'

The Black Stars skipper was instrumental in Ghana's AFCON double header – scoring a goal apiece in both games in Casablanca and Tamale.

The extent of his injury is not known yet but he is expected to return to the pitch soon.
