21.10.2014 LISTEN

The Paramount Chief of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, has launched a scathing attack on the Black Stars for their behaviour at the 2014 World Cup insisting their refusal to train despite the intervention of the country's president is the highest form of disrespect.

The King lambasted the Ghana players for their actions which led to the Black Stars disgraceful showing at the tournament in Brazil with the problems of the appearance fee wrecking the campaign.

With two days before the final group match against Portugal, President John Mahama called the players to plead with them over the non-arrival money and assured them of its arrival before the match.

Yet the players refused to train which led to be money being loaded on a plane from Accra for Brasilia for the players to be paid before the match.

This infuriated Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin who said if nothing at all, the players should have trained after the president spoke to them and that they could have overlooked all the promises and trusted the president.

“The president calls the boys and yet they refused to train and later you see the boys with their chest out listening to the Anthem of Ghana how is that,” the King said.

He said, “What audacity, the impudence for the President of Ghana to call you and you still refused to train. The most hated person in Washington against Obama, when Obama calls he answers.”

Lamenting that after all the assurance of the President, the players had the audacity to refuse to play Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, described the behavior of the Black Stars as indisciplined.

Ghana suffered its worse outing in its history at the World Cup which resulted in its first round elimination.
