OCT 20, 2014 LISTEN

Rosalind Amoh believes that negligence on the part of the government of Ghana is the main cause of the Queens inability to progress past the group phase of the ongoing Women's Championship in Namibia.

The Black Queens lost their opening game of the tournament against Algeria, before they drew against South Africa and despite a 1-0 win over Cameroon in their final group game, they couldn't qualify to the semi finals

Amoh has stated that the Ministry of Youth and Sports failed to exercise its duty as the mother body of sporting disciplines in Ghana by refusing to motivate the team and that to a larger extent led to their inability excel in the tournament.

'The Black Queens were left to their fate by government and people in the Ministry of Sports failed to make any call to encourage them.

'For the GFA they did what they had to do, but it was just that things didn't go well,' she told Fox fm

Related to this, the vice chairman of the Women's League Board indicated that inexperience also contributed to the bane of the Black Queens in the tournament.

'It was clear during the tournament that Ghana lacked experience in our team. We left most of the senior players home and decided to go with the inexperienced ones, unlike Nigeria who concentrated on experience,' Rosalind Amo added.

Ghana's exit from the African Women's Championship means they are automatically out of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup to be staged in Canada.
