Report: Avram Grant's loyalty questioned by Ghanaians
19.10.2014 LISTEN

Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant's loyalty has been questioned by Football fans in Ghana after he dropped down in the country for an interview over the weekend. Just twenty-eight (28) days into his Technical Director gig with Thailand Side BEC-Tera Sasana, the Israeli coach has indicated his willingness to take on the Black Stars coaching position.

The Israeli is said to have been marketed and propelled for the job by agents in the Ghanaian media who have promised the 59 year old the job despite his contractual agreement with the Thailand side and a salary demand over $150,000.

The interview which saw three coaches going through successfully on Friday and Saturday will now determine which coach will manage the Black Stars, whose camp broke into chaos during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

But with current happenings on the continent where unknown coaches have transformed the likes of Cameroun, Algeria and South Africa recently in the ongoing AFCON qualifier, the three shortlisted interviewees could see Spanish Juan Ignacio Martinez come out on top, well ahead of Avram Grant who has never coached at the World Cup Stage, with Michael Pont having an upper hand over Avram Grant.

The choice of Martinez may be the appointment to transform the team on a continent where you need to justify your inclusion as currently being implemented in Cameroun, Algeria, South Africa and the others without the reliance on big names.

It is likely a substantive coach will be appointed ahead of Ghana's clash with Uganda in Kampala and close sources within the Ghana FA, indicate it is likely to appoint Spanish Juan Ignacio Martinez if Ghana wants a new direction in its football.
