Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), the world's most popular chicken restaurant chain has officially launched the “football beat”, an event for kids to socialize and learn new things at the branch office in Osu in Accra.

The KFC Football beat is a fun filled programme designed for kids to make new friends, be entertained and bring the brand community together.

It brings together kids into a store to play a game of X box console and culminates in the brand hosting a five-a-side soccer event for kids aged between 10 and 14.

Interested kids within the category will earn free registration for purchasing items at all KFC branches in and around Ghana. They will subsequently be assigned coaches for mentoring.

Ninety-six (96) boys and girls (between the ages of 10 – 14) selected through stages of qualification would be grouped into different sets in the five-a-side tournament.

There will be many fantastic prizes to be won on the day; medals for the winning teams, including spot prizes such as branded shirts, caps and water bottles for both participants and spectators.

Speaking at the launch, the senior Branch Manager of KFC Ghana, Zama Hlophe said “As they have already started player recruitment at schools within Ghana, coaches will be selected as positive role models for the youngsters within their communities

“As a youth centric brand, we are happy to be creating events where children can have fun and make new friends while getting involved in fun activities. Football Beat will bring communities together and have youngsters playing football. I would like to encourage all parents and guardians to visit their nearest participating KFC stores and register their children in this fun event.”

She, therefore, appealed to parents to register their kind for the games to bring the best out from them.

The football beat challenge spans October 25- November 1 at the El- Wak Sports Stadium.
