Asamoah Gyan failed to score and was sent off as his Al Ain team crashed out of the Asian Champions League despite a 2-1 win over Al Hilal on Tuesday.

Goals from Myeong-Ju Lee and Jires Kembo Ekoko were not enough to overturn a 3-0 deficit suffered in the first leg of the semi final tie a fortnight ago.

Nasser Al-Shamrani equalized for the visitors to effectively kill off the tie after Lee had given Zlatko Dalic's side a flying start after 10 minutes.

Kembo retored Al Ain's lead eight minutes after inspirational striker Asamoah Gyan was sent off in the 70 th minute – his first sending off in four years in club football – for a double footed lunge.

But it proved too little too late for the Boss as their fairy tale story in Asia came crashing down before their passionate home fans on a 4-2 aggregate scoreline to the Saudi giants.
