Extinguishers Thrash Amazing Grace…In Dwadifo Adanfo Hockey League

An amazing solo goal by Rachel Bamfo aided Extinguishers Ladies to a 3-1 victory over Amazing Grace Ladies as they made it four wins from four games in the Dwadifo Adanfo Hockey League last Saturday at the Theodosiah Okoh Hockey Stadium.

Extinguishers, who have not lost since they suffered a 5-0 hammering at the hands of Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) on August 15, opened the scoring through Joamit Korwu in the 8th minute when she received a pass from her teammate Bamfo and fired past Amazing Grace goalie Theresa Ketedzi.

Dwadifo Adanfo league debutants, Amazing Grace were pinned in their half during the first period of the game and were lucky not to concede more goals as they did not manage a single shot on target heading into the break.

In the 42nd minute Extinguishers made it 2-0 courtesy a mazy run and dribble by Bamfo who maneuvered the ball around three Amazing Grace defenders using short, skillful taps of her stick before coolly striking the ball into the bottom corner of the goal.

Amazing Grace restored some pride in when Sarah Addae pulled a goal back in the 47th minute but a strike by Greta Ayeetey in the 57th minute sealed the win for Extinguishers.

The coach of Extinguishers, Martha Solomon later in an interview described the game as a training exercise designed to prepare her side for a crunch meeting with the Ghana Revenue Authority on Friday.

She said: “This was just a training match for stronger matches against sides such as GRA who beat us 5-0 in the first round, this Friday we will be seeking revenge”.

In other interesting ties. Police Ladies drew 1-1 with Reformers. Goldensticks knocked the male-side of Police off the summit of the league log with a 3-2 victory and Trustees became the new leaders of the league with a slender 1-0 victory over GRA.

In the seniors division, Sapholda's winning streak was halted by Multistix in an entertaining 1-1 draw, defending champions, NDK thumped Veterans 5-1 while GRA beat Ark Ladies 5-0 and Real Ambassadors defeated Legonites 2-1.
