Ghana'S U-17 soccer side the Black Starlets yesterday qualified for next year's african youth Championship in niger after defeating their Cameroonian counterparts 4-3 in accra.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin's boys thus qualified on a 6-4 aggregate after winning the first leg encounter 2-1 a fortnight ago in Yaounde.

Ghana's Abass Issah grabbed the opener in the early minutes with a free header, while Henry Medarious consolidated the lead 19 minutes after the opening goal.

Seven minutes before the break, Jonah Osabutey made it three, but the Starlets' rear lost concentration and allowed their opponents to pull one back through Nguene Armel two minutes before recess.

The Cameroonians resumed aggressively and succeeded in scoring three minutes into the game, courtesy Bayemi Nguidjol.

Medarious scored his personal second 12 minutes to the end of the game, and the visitors replied again in the dying minutes, but that was not enough to save their African championship dream.
