Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah says his key ambition is to win the UEFA Champions League title with the Italian giants this season after the disappointment of bombing out of the competition at the early stages in last year's event.

The Ghana international was part of the Juventus team that reached the semi-final of the Europa League competition last season after they were eliminated from the Champions League in the early stages.

With their stranglehold of the Italian league title, Asamoah says they are setting their targets higher for this term with the key aim of winning the Champions League.

“Last season we could not make it past the qualifiers and had to play in the Europa League an action that saw us reach the semi-final,” Asamoah said.

“This time we are in the Champions League and it is a good thing for us as we hope to replicate our good form in the Serie A into the competition.

“I know we will win a few trophies here and there, but personally the Champions League trophy is my target.”

Juventus face a tough encounter against Atletico Madrid in their next game in the group phase of the Champions League and having lost their first match, the Ghanaian expects the Spaniards to come out fighting in their clash in the next round of group matches.

“They are a very strong side and they lost their first game, so they will come firing at us from all angles, especially on their home grounds,” the Ghana international noted.

“But we are confident in our abilities and will look to beat them to help our progress in the competition.”

Juventus have been drawn in the same group with Atletico Madrid, Malmo FF, and Olympiakos in Group A.
