Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan began his UAE league campaign last Saturday on a good note, hitting the back of the net in Al-Ain's 2-0 win over Al Wasi.

The Al-Ain hit-man described the feat as a refreshing one which would urge him on to go the extra mile in this season's league.

He finished tops in last season's league and extended it to the World Stage (Brazil) where he distinguished himself as Africa's top scorer with five goals.

The former Sunderland forward shared his experience after the game with DAILY GUIDE SPORTS in a telephone interview saying, 'It's a good feeling, it is the dream of every striker to score.

'Like we look for ways to outwit the defenders and goalkeepers in games, they equally become wiser by the day. I think this is good for me, it has encouraged me to do more.

'I pray for an injury-free season. With the help of almighty God, I promise to bang in more goals. In football, one key thing people forget about is a player having a good day.

'If you have a good day, everything works for you, even your mistakes are considered a style, and that is what I pray for this season. My team mates have been supportive all this while, and I hope it will continue,' said Gyan.

Gyan, who was instrumental in Ghana's 3-2 away win over Togo on September 10, in their Nations Cup qualifier, opened the scoring after 36 minutes in their league opener against Wasi.

The striker is seeking to take his last season 30-goal tally to a higher level this season.
