PIC did not work - Denkabe

According to him, the committee was dead on its inauguration because there were issues of who to chair the committee, who should control it and who should have a bigger stake in it.

He stated that, the busy schedules of the professionals who worked on the committee also affected their operations.

“Members of the committee were busy professionals and after series of follow ups on the work without any positive response we gave up.” He stated.

He said “the committee was still-born or poisoned to death slowly or a combination of both”.

According to Denkabe said, the absence of a permanent secretariat also affected their operations adding that, they also struggled with issues of the status of the committee.

He said they only met twice since they were inaugurated and suggested that, it should reorganise based on the statutes of FIFA, GFA and national laws.

The GFA, in 2011 formed the a five member PIC in accordance with Article 70 of its statutes, to liaise with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to facilitate the necessary facilities required for building the national football teams, ensure provision of funds by the Government for purposes of building the national football teams.

It was also mandated to formulate policies, which are necessary for building strong national teams, in accordance with directives of the Executive Committee and the Ministry as well as other functions as ascribed by the Executive Committee with respect to the Protocol on GFA/Government relations.

The five-member committee was made of Mr. Ernest Thompson, Mr. Tedi Sory, Mr. Abedi Pele and Mr. Oteng Arthur.
