Hearts of Oak have made a first installment payment of GHS 34,250 (US$ 9,786) as severance package to former coach David Duncan whose contract was unlawfully terminated last November.

The Status Committee of the Ghana Football Association declared that Duncan was illegally sacked and ordered the club to pay him an GHS 86,500 compensation fee.

But after serious of talks and negotiations, the amount was reduced to GHS 68,501 after the coach's legal representative gave the club a discount of GHS 20,999.

“After they Hearts lost both appeals they were ordered to pay a further GHS 3,000 which raised the amount to GHS 89,500. They pleaded for time to pay and after tripartite negotiations brokered by Mr Amarkai Amartefio we gave them a discount,” Larbi is quoted by the Graphic Sports.

“They were supposed to pay the discounted amount of GHS 68,501 in full by 5 September but they displayed signs of intransigence until they brought a cheque for GHS 34,250 that failed to clear last week and was returned to them.”

Duncan has been supervising the training sessions of promoted Great Olympics but he is yet to pen a contract with the Wonder Club.
