Manchester United got their season back on track by recording an emphatic 4-0 win over Queens Park Rangers at Old Trafford on Sunday. The result marked their first win of the current Barclays Premier League campaign under manager Louis van Gaal. The Reds opened the scoring through their new star signing Angel di María on the 24th minute mark when he curled in a free-kick from yards out, eluding every player in the box before going straight into an empty net.

Twelve minutes later (36th minute), Angel di María orchestrated a beautiful break from the United half, charging down the left wing towards the Rangers box, where he laid off a sweet pass into the path of Wayne Rooney, who had his shot blocked before placing a pass to Ander Herrera, who carefully picked his spot and slotted home past Robert Green to give United a 2-0 lead.

On the stroke of half-time, Wayne Rooney connected from Ander Herrera's pass from the edge of the QPR box, to equal the third most goals (175) in the history of Barclays Premier League alongside Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. Rooney became the youngest player to reach the 175th goal mark at 28-years-old. United went into the break with a 3-goal cushion. Back from recess, the lads from Carrington continued to dictate the flow of the game. Close to the hour mark (58th minute), Angel di María sent in beautiful pass to Juan Mata Garcia, who lifted the ball over goalkeeper Robert Green from very close range.

The United fans had been singing for Radamel Falcao's introduction into the action, and on the 67th minute mark they got just what they wanted when the Colombian star forward came on alongside Antonio Valencia for Juan Mata and Rafael da Silva respectively. It was an encouraging performance from the Reds, who had only managed to salvage 2 points from their 3 opening games of the season. Hopefully, last weekend's performance will serve as a sign of better things to come for Manchester United moving ahead. Former United and England defender Rio Ferdinand was acknowledged for his career with the former champions before the game commenced.

Hull City and West Ham United played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the KC Stadium. Uruguay's Abel Hernández, who was signed for a record fee of £10m, capitalized on West Ham's open style of play and intelligently sneaked in front of James Tomkins to power in a header to give his side a 39th-minute lead on his debut. The Tigers nearly made it 2-0 before the break but Hernández's dipping attempt from outside the penalty box bounced off the underside of the woodwork and his strike partner Nikica Jelavić header from the rebound found the back of the net but it was ruled offside.

West Ham's £12m signing from Ecuador, Enner Valencia, who had a wonderful outing at the Brazil 2014 tournament, grabbed a breathtaking equalizing goal for the Hammers on the 50th minute mark. His goal from 25 yards out mimicked Ghana's Tony Yeboah stunner for Leeds United in the 1990s. Mohamed Diamé scored against his former club and restored the home side's lead on the 64th minute mark. Three minutes later, Diafra Sakho's diagonal and feeble shot somehow got past the grasp of the Scotland shot-stopper Allan McGregor and bounced off Curtis Davies's heel into back of the net.
