Ex-Ghana defender John Pantsil says he would welcome the return of former head coach Milovan Rajevac, should the Ghana Football Association (GFA) decide to appoint him.

With Ghana FA deciding to part ways with Kwesi Appiah last week, the Serbian trainer has been touted in many quarters as the one to take over the position permanently. The Serbian is widely tipped to take over the post he held from 2008 to 2010, having been a candidate to work as technical adviser alongside Appiah before. And Pantsil, who won 88 caps for the Black Stars and now plies his trade at KZN-based side Maritzburg United, said it will good for the GFA to reappoint him again considering his record for the national team.

“The country love him because of the previous performances with the country,” the defender said.

“He was the one that took the team to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa (losing to Uruguay in the quarter-finals), so he is a coach in Ghana who is well-known and has worked with Kwesi Appiah in the past.

“I'm not someone who can make a decision for him but he would be welcome to coach in Ghana again because the people liked him.”

The 33-year-old, who has played for West Ham, Fulham and Leicester City in the England, refused to be drawn in on the decision the association made to let Appiah go.
