GLOBAL VILLAGE Media Group, owners of Metro TV, this week announced its 40- percent share acquisition of Great Olympics at a short ceremony at the club's newlyacquired offices at Ridge in Accra.

Consequently, the Group would make a cash contribution of GH¢400,000 to the Wonder Club in addition to facilities such as training grounds, camping premises, administrative offices, two brand new Hyundai (i10) cars for administrative and technical purposes and a 32- seater branded bus as a team bus.

Through its sister company Optimum Media Prime (OMP), Global Village Media Group will act as the exclusive marketing agency for the club and syndicate sponsorship packages for the club, match fixtures and weekly TV shows on Metro TV.

Executive Director of Global Village Media, Fadi Fattal said, 'We are confident that this new partnership will not only bring

about the needed revival of Accra Great Olympics FC, but also extend to the bigger football community and bring about a paradigm shift in football administration in the country.'

Youth and Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga commended Global Village for the initiative saying, 'Football, no doubt is the passion of the nation. It is one of the income-generating avenues and contributes to national development.'

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi expressed joy over the club's return to the elite league,

and also expressed the hope that the club would stay in the premiership.

'The FA is very happy for your return. We hope and pray that you stay and go back no more.

The package rolled out by Global Village will certainly mark the new beginning of Great Olympics,' said Mr Nyantakyi.

Global Village presented GH¢100,000 as the first tranche of its financial commitment to the Wonder Club at the program.

Meanwhile, news from the Wonder Club indicate that former Accra Hearts of Oak coach David Duncan is in talks with the club to make a return, after many years of quitting as a player and a coach.
