'Tweaa' DCE Reinstated
23.08.2014 LISTEN

Gabriel Barima
THE DISTRICT Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South in the Ashanti Region, Gabriel Barima, who was sacked for angrily chiding health workers in his district for a comment made by an unidentified person, has been reinstated.

The DCE, who rose to fame on the back of the infamous 'Who said tweaa?' refrain, was re-instated following calls by some National Democratic Congress (NDC) party executives, including the General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah in a statement, said the apparent unapologetic interview which cost  the DCE his job, was not an interview, but rather a secretly recorded conversation which was leaked to  the media.

Even though Mr. Barima, according to a DAILY GUIDE source, was yet to receive a letter confirming his reinstatement, he had been informed about the decision by the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister who was acting in Mr. 'Tweaa's stead.

The DCE was sacked from office a day after granting a media interview in which he asserted that he had no remorse over his storming out of a public function in anger.

Gabriel Barima, months ago, was caught on video in tantrums and walking out on people, including some government officials and traditional rulers, at a public function in reaction to a comment made by someone in the audience who was said to have used the derogatory word 'tweaa' when the DCE was delivering a speech.

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development reprimanded him and asked him to apologise for his offensive conduct.

In spite of Barima's issuance of a written and verbal apology for his widely condemned behavior which earned him a pardon from government he (Barima) bounced back, laying claim to royalties from people deriding him with the word 'tweaa.'
