Ex-Ghana international Laryea Kingston says the Ghana Football Association maybe right in extending the contract Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah.

The former Heart of Midlothian midfielder has refused to be drawn into the debate of whether the ex-Ghana captain deserves a new deal despite guiding the team to a first round crushing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

“It's a difficult situation but nobody can do anything about it because it's the GFA who rule and decide on any football matter in this country. They have the power to appoint the Black Stars coach,” Laryea told Allsports.com.gh.

“What we all seem to be forgetting that in just about two weeks we shall start the qualifying matches to next year's Africa Cup of Nations. We must all come together and back the coach and the Black Stars with our prayers because they need it.

“The coach has gained considerable experience so far and I am hoping he can now lead us to win the Africa Cup, at least he can silence his critics. I will be praying for him to succeed.”

The Ghana Football Association has decided to strengthen the team with the appointment of a technical adviser.
