GOtv GAMASHIE HOMOWO FOOTBALL TOURNEY UNDERWAY

Private television network, GO TV, has rekindled the Ga Mashie Homowo football league rivalry with 16 community teams participating in the 2014 edition which kicked off Sunday July 19, at the Mantse Agbonaa Park.

The GO TV Community Football festival is an annual event on the calendar of the digital pay-per-view television network aimed at promoting football within the traditional Ga Mashie community.

Apart from helping to enhance good neighborliness in the traditional area, the competition also serves as an avenue for unearthing talents in a community where the passion for football is highly unadulterated.

The tournament is organized by the Forum for Future Development and it is led by Nii Ayi Hayford,

This year's tournament was opened by the PPP 2012 presidential running mate, Madam Eva Lokko, who encouraged the players to exhibit discipline, talent and skill in play.

She called for proper identification of avenues which can be opened to sports development through scholarships at the high school, local and international levels.

Madam Lokko encouraged the players to be mindful of fair play and to be consistent in giving 100 per cent at all times.

The one-month long tournament ends on Sunday August 17 to round off the Homowo celebration. It is supported by I-zone, Bueno Natural mineral water.

The participating teams are Kweikumatsoshishi, Adanse, Ayigbe Town St. Mary's, Ngleshie, Afiena, Mudor, Akotolante, Mamprobi, Akamajay, Sempe, Kotia, London Gye Nyame, Madina and Ashabienaa.

Dignitaries that graced the kick-off were Nii Ayika III, Akanmajay Mantse, as well as Cecil Sunkwa Mills, country Director for Go TV.
