It's him again! Sung Na wins MTN Classic Golf

Sung Na has been writing the headlines again after emerging champion of the Men Group B division at this year's MTN Classic golf championships which teed off to a resounding success in Tema over the weekend.

Sung who won the same division when last a tournament was played at the Tema Country Club, made little work of the fierce competition put up by his challengers to run away with the winner's trophy two shots clear of the runner-up.

Playing off handicap 16, Sung returned net 64 to beat second placed, Evans Darko-Mensah who played on a distant handicap 23 with 3rd spot, Geoffrey Cofie a further five shots back with net return of 71.

Sung went home with a trophy, Mi Fi and MTN souvenirs but it's the joy of winning and moving ever closer to a single digit handicap that the Ghana-born Korean was excited about.

"It's a great feeling to win again especially as I have been sick for sometime. I've been playing well and I will like to keep on winning and achieving my dreams," Sung Na told Allsports.com.gh right on the greens as he held his trophy.

"Definitely I'm still on track working hard towards becoming a full time professional player and I hope to play on the Asian Tour soon. I will have to work harder to bring my handicap down and that's just what I'm focused on.

In the event, runner-up Darko-Mensah and Cofie both received a trophy and MTN souvenirs each as their prizes.

Ladies group B was won by Cathy Boateng who returned net 76 to see off the challenge of runner-up Grace Amoah by a whooping 8 shots (net 84).

In the closely contested top division, Kwame Ligbidi followed up winning June's MTN CEO's Invitational by adding up the MTN Classic Men's group A division title after beating E.J. Ocansey on countback after both players returned 67 net.

Third placed Yao Dogbe was only a shot back on net 68 whereas 4th placed P.K. Amenyo clocked 70 net.

Ladies group A winner was the evergreen Ama Morgan who returned 72 net to see off the challenge Maggie Anderson who also beat 3rd placed Diana Davis only on countback after both ladies returned 74 net apiece.

MTN CEO, Serame Toukobong thanked all the golfers for their participation and assured his company's commitment to sports promotion in this country.

"The golf today was very challenging but I have to congratulate all players for showing up. We thank you for coming here to celebrate with us and hopefully we'll see you at our upcoming tournaments," Mr. Toukobong said.
