Fight business over lunch: Sports Minister discusses boxing with Bukom Banku

Enigmatic boxer, Braimah Kamoko, famously nicknamed Bukom Banku was guest of Youth and Sports Minister, Hon. Mahama Ayariga on Sunday afternoon during which they discussed the sport and how to push it up to produce more world champions for this country.

Hon. Ayariga took office barely a month ago and has been meeting sports personalities and visiting sports facilities as he seeks to revive teh country's fortunes in various sporting disciplines.

Boxing was the turn on Sunday afternoon when he hosted Bukom Banku, by far the most famous Ghanaian boxer today, the man whose last fight against Ayitey Powers attracted spectators from all walks of life including former President, Jerry Rawlings.

Allsports.com.gh can report that both Bukom Banku and Hon. Ayariga exchanged views and plans on the way forward for boxing in this country. The Minister also revealed that he is already on the brink of sealing coaching partnership with Cuba to help Ghana boxing.

"Hon. Mahama Ayariga is having lunch with Braimah Kamako (Bukom Banku) this afternoon to discuss Boxing and his plans for the sports. Kamako is also sharing with Hon. Ayariga what he hopes government does for the Sports now and in the future," Hon. Ayariga posted on his own Facebook page earlier today.

"Hon. Ayariga used the meeting to announce that he has been in touch with Cuban government since he took office to help boost Boxing in the country; in turn the Cuban government has agreed to send trainers to Ghana once an agreement is reached," the Minister added.

"Hon. Ayariga assured Banku that the government will give serious considerations to the sports and the men and women involved in it," the post concluded.
