The Palestine Sports Journalists Association is in mourning after one of its leading journalists and member Ahed Afif Zakout, was killed after Israeli forces bombed his apartment located in the Italian complex near the Italian consulate in middle of Gaza.

Ahed, aged 49, an AIPS (International Sports Press Association) card member, a father of two sons and a daughter,started his sports as a distinguished football player before switching to sports journalism worked as a sports commentator for several channels.

He worked as a sports news anchor in Palestine Television and also carried on as a Football Coach.

The attacks have so far killed 1300, with Ahed's death making it a total of nine journalists killed in the Gaza strip since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli offensive on Gaza after three weeks of fighting including Mohammed Daher, a journalist for al-Risalah newspaper based in the Gaza strip, who also died of injuries sustained from an Israeli strike that hit his home in the strip's Shujaiyya neighborhood, Palestinian medical sources have announced.

Many of his family members were also killed in the strike, Al Arabiya News reported on Thursday.

Medical sources also announced on Wednesday the death of two photojournalists working for al-Aqsa channel, Sameh al-Aryan and Rami Rayyan. They died in an attack by Israeli forces that took place in Eastern Gaza.
