Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu at the Manhyia palace on Tuesday 30 July, 2013, appointed former international Opoku Nti as the acting General Manager for Kumasi Asante Kotoko
He was told to be supported by the accountant of the Pocupine Warriors, Mr Charles Opoku to run the affairs of the club until the appointment of a substantive CEO.
Otumfuo also asked the head coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, who was asked by the former management to leave the club or get the sack, to remain at post and prepare the club for the coming season.
Opoku Nti was a member of the Asante Kotoko Africa Cup winning squad in 1983. He scored the winning goal that clinched the trophy for Kotoko against Al-Ahly in Kumasi
His appointment came just a day after the Board of Directors of Kotoko appointed private legal practitioner, Paul Adu-Gyamfi, as its interim chairman, to help bring stability into the affairs of the league champions as they awaited word from the Manhyia Palace on the future direction of the club.
The former Black Stars coach, who replaced Dr. K.K Sarpong as the head of the club's management team, guided them to an unprecedented double of FA Cup and league titles in the 2013/14 season. Under his stewardship the club also won the Super Cup.
Some of his minuses have been Kotoko's elimination from the CAF Champions League at the preliminary stage, the poor condition of the club's training facility at Adako Jachie, etc.
