Welterweight Azumah Mohammed breezed through to the round of 16 in the men's 69kg after a clinching a unanimous decision over Joseph Deireragea of Nauru on Friday.

After a cautious opening round, Azumah went on the offensive and won all three rounds He is set to fight England's Scott Fitzgerald on Sunday.

Weightlifting:
Daniel Darko broke the national record in the men's 62 kg after lifting a total weight of 197kg at the Clyde Auditorium Weightlifting on Friday.

Meanwhile, Ruth Baffoe her personal best in the women's 53kg division, lifting a total of 153kg to improve her previous record of 140kg at the African Weightlifting Championship last year.

Ghana's weightlifting coach Kyle Pierce comment: 'I'm impressed with the performance of my weightlifter. They did their PBs, they lifted very well and they are rising. Overall, I'm happy with their performances.'

Swimming
17-year old swimmer, Ophelia Swayne, earned some much needed experience after making her Commonwealth Games debut in the 50m freestyle event at the Tollcross Swimming Centre on Friday.

Ophelia, who came eight in Heat 4 in a time of 29.09, missed qualification to the next round and was ranked 44th out of 57 swimmers.

Badminton
Team Badminton are through to the quarter finals of the Mixed Teams Group Play stage after defeating Uganda 3:2 in their last Group B game on Friday.

Judo:
Emmanuel Nartey missed out on a place to medal at the Commonwealth Games Judo competition after losing to Scotland's Patrick Dawson in the men's -73kg repechage contest.

Nartey earlier lost his quarter finals match against New Zealand's Adrian Leat, before the repechage contest with the Scot. This was after Nartey had beaten his opponent from Mozambique Edson Madeira on the penalty count.

Ghana's Abubakar Alhassan lost to Cameroun's Louis Messi in the men's -81kg preliminary round of 16 match-up while Sarah Szogedi also lost to England's Brown-Yeats in the women's -63kg preliminary round of 16.

Preview Day Three:
Team Ghana will be competing in swimming, boxing and judo on Day three of the Games.
