Back to work: Asamoah Gyan begins pre-season training at Al Ain
22.07.2014 LISTEN

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan joined his Al Ain teammates in training for the first time since signing off for the 2014 World Cup on Monday evening.

The 28-year-old only arrived in Dubai early Monday morning but wasted no time at all in getting back to work at his club.

Gyan delayed his return to Al Ain following the disappearance of his musical partner, Castro and his female friends Jane Bandu while holidaying at a resort in his native Ghana.

The ex Sunderland hitman had enjoyed a fruitful personal campaign at the World Cup in Brazil despite Ghana's disappointing first round elimination.

Gyan emerged Ghana's all-time leading scorer and also broke and set a new record as the African player with most goals scored in the history of the finals.

He arrived at Al Ain's training center for the evening's session on Monday where he greeted his coach Zlatko Dalic and exchanged pleasantries with his teammates before hitting the ground running.

Gyan needed minimal effort to get himself back into rigorous exercises mainly due to his disciplined training regimen when even on holiday.

The Black Stars captain is expected to feature in the side's friendly match against Al Kuwaiti SC on Wednesday as the club whips itself back into shape for their Asian and domestic challenge.
